The Kenzie House

First built by the Hudson’s Bay Company in 1940 for the Trading Post Manager and his family, this home has gone through several owners and renovations before coming to us. We are most pleased to be able to share it with you. The trading post was located on Post Narrows of Red Lake, where you can still see where it might have been, as well as historical graves. There are many historical sites on Red Lake waiting for you to explore.

From the lakeside, when you pull up to the dock, you will notice the outdoor areas on the lawn and deck, a collection of perennial flowers, as well as the outdoor shower. There is a firepit with chairs close to the water. On the deck, there is a propane fire table and chairs, as well as a propane and a charcoal barbecue. Also, on the front deck, there is a conversation area with chairs and an umbrella for shade. If you prefer the backyard, it has a cozy deck with a table and two chairs for morning coffee or tea among the perennials. There is also a small deck for reading or a perfect place for a yoga mat. Off to the side, there is a greenhouse and a small bunkie that can be used as a playroom or for extra sleeping for one. Tucked into the water's edge is a hanging swing chair for some quiet reading. The house is a short walk or golf cart ride from the ferry dock in summer. In the winter, access is via an ice road on a snow machine or car.

Downstairs, there are two bedrooms with queen-size beds, a closet, and a dresser or a freestanding clothing rack, and a three-piece bath with a tub and shower. The kitchen is fully equipped with several new appliances, a beverage fridge, and a portable ice maker. There is a washer and dryer for your use in the back porch. The living room has a couch and several chairs for watching the Smart TV equipped with Netflix and Amazon Prime, or a choice of many DVDs. High-speed wireless internet is available throughout. Attached to the front is a sunroom that provides extra space for gathering or enjoying various games and puzzles.

Upstairs is open concept with four twin beds, a two-piece bathroom, lots of clothing storage, and a desk. As well, there are several rocking chairs for reading bedtime stories, and an assortment of books and toys.
